Best Trip Ever! Photo Gallery
We started at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, staying at Serena Mountain Village, overlooking Lake Duluti. It was late September, just before the short rains. Grass is dry and there is dust, but the animals are not hidden. Travel was by 6-passenger land cruisers to Tarangire National Park, to see wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, elephants, antelope, impala, dik-diks, and cape buffalo.
Back into the landcruisers, standing on the seats for good views to Lake Manyara National Park for gazelles, waterbucks, lions and more.
A walk through Mto wa Mbu included visiting a home and school. Then to the Ngorongoro Ngorongoro Crater where the lodge was on the dormant volcano's rim. The rhino and a cheetah were too far away to see, but there were herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelles.
We stopped at a Masai village before going to Oldupai (Olduvai) Gorge, then took the rough dirt roads across the plains to the Western Serengeti. There was a hot-air balloon flight at dawn over the Serengeti grasslands. In the afternoon game drive there were wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, baboons, hyenas at a week-old carcass, a leopard, elephants, hippos, cape buffalos, jackals, gazelles and prides of lions.
A drive across grasslands took us to luxurious Kirawira Tented Camp, two more gorgeous days of game drives, and then home.

Two weeks with Kathleen who had worked on the north shore for a while. Anchorage and Sitka were very good, the tiny airplanes were not good. Jim flew to the north shore but I learned to pan for gold that day instead. Denali's grizzlies and other animals, near and far, were spectacular.

1968 Travel begins with a wonderful Summer
England, France, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy, Austria, West Germany,Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands.
We picked up a TR250 in London and toured about 8,000 miles in 9 weeks. Then we drove it into a gas station in Amsterdam, and picked it up at the port in Los Angeles a few weeks later. It had no radio and no air conditioning, but was great to drive. We later drove it to NYC and to Seattle. It kept its oil leak for the entire 17 years we owned it.
